Carmel Up Close

I am going to be analysing a college magazine.

The target audience for this magazine is for college kids. We know this because the master head is called "Carmel up close" and Carmel is a college in the north east . The cover includes an anchorage text which says carmel college is one of the top ten colleges in the country.

The Magazine engages the target audience by having a very colourful background and masthead that catches the readers eye and connotes a happy atmosphere of the college.
The priorities of this magazine is to catch the readers eye and to persuade the readers that carmel college is a fun educational place to go. The cover is trying to get the message that carmel college is highly respected in the UK.§ Anchorage text saying the word "Result"which helps the readers understand what the main image connotes.

The image that is used is a girl preferably a student looking pleased of exited because she has opened her results. A medium shot is used to show the girls facial expressions and what is in her hands. The mise en scene show the girl wearing very youthful clothes and her facial expressions shows us that she is very over enthusiastic. Everyone in the background is wearing very plain clothing which makes the girl stand out. This connotes that carmel college can help you develop your knowledge and as a person in general and help you stand out.

The cover engages the audience by using a very soft heading and masthead and using very youthful colours. It also shows a teenager getting good results which all teenagers want to achieve.
The content reflects the cover as they are using the same colours and images from the cover to keep the theme of the magazine throughout the magazine.
